The Right Filter Bag Material to Reduce Environmental Operation and Maintenance Costs

Recent technical reminders from the environmental protection industry highlight that filter bags are the core component of baghouse dust collectors. The filter material directly determines filtration efficiency, service life and emission stability. Enterprises are advised to select suitable filter bags according to actual working conditions such as flue gas temperature and corrosion level.

For normal-temperature working conditions, polyester filter bags are the preferred choice. With a temperature resistance of up to 130°C and cost-effective performance, they are widely used in woodworking, grain processing, mechanical polishing and other scenarios with dry and non-corrosive dust. For medium-temperature and sulfur-containing flue gas in power plants and waste incineration plants, PPS filter bags are ideal. They can withstand long-term operating temperatures of 190°C and provide excellent acid and alkali corrosion resistance.

Aramid and FMS filter materials are suitable for high-temperature environments such as cement kilns and asphalt mixing stations. PTFE filter bags are applied in harsh chemical and ultra-high-temperature working conditions. Featuring outstanding chemical stability, PTFE materials support long-term ultra-low emission operation, though with a higher procurement cost. Glass fiber filter materials offer excellent high-temperature resistance, while they are fragile when bent, making them mainly suitable for dry high-temperature flue gas filtration.

Industry experts point out that mismatched filter bag materials easily cause bag burning, dust caking and frequent damage, significantly increasing replacement costs and environmental compliance risks. Reasonable material selection based on flue gas temperature, acidity, alkalinity and humidity can help enterprises achieve stable emission standards and optimize long-term operation and maintenance costs.
